How do you audit a public web page?

A page audit is a check of the HTML and available response evidence for one URL. It can identify missing labels, an accidental noindex directive and incomplete metadata. It cannot establish Google rankings or actual AI citations.

What should you check first?

Start with the page you want visitors to find. Inspect the title, robots directive, headings and form labels. Confirm each finding in the HTML before changing a template. Keep intentionally private pages excluded from indexing.

  1. Save the exact URL and the original HTML.
  2. Check the evidence for each reported issue.
  3. Apply the relevant fix and repeat the audit.

How do you confirm an improvement?

Compare the same page using the same analyzer version and measurement mode. Record the affected check and dimension score. A technical score change is evidence about the diagnostic, not proof of more traffic or better conversion.
